Going Wild In Roath

Last Sunday, the award-winning Cardiff Rivers Group returned to the Wild Gardens in Roath Park to carry out a range of improvement activities.

27 volunteers gave up their Sunday morning to litter-pick the park, unblock the culvert that feeds Roath Park lake which had become completely blocked with debris, and remove the invasive plant species, Himalayan Balsam.

Committee member, Dave King said,”Roath Park is one of our favourite areas as shown by the number of volunteers this morning! We did this at the request of Cardiff Council Parks department – partnership working at its best! A really good mornings work”.

Chairman, Duval Ferdinand added, “The turn out today of volunteers for Cardiff Rivers Group was amazing! What a difference they made of clearing the culvert that feeds the lake.”
