Event 125: Rover Way

On Saturday 23 April CRG enjoyed a trip to “Splott beach” as they did their bit for Keep Wales Tidy’s ‘Clean Coast Week’.

18 volunteers spent 2 hours scouring the coastline for rubbish on a beautiful spring day. Together they collected over 35 bags of waste as well as larger items such as pallets, wire fencing and plastic piping.

They had to cart all the rubbish back up to the main road for collection by Cardiff Council Parks services – this was made  much easier with the new wheelbarrows, funded by a grant from Welsh Government.

Group member, Louise Tambini said,

“ We do love a trip to the seaside! We are delighted to take part in a National event such as Clean Coast week, if everyone who lives near the coast in Wales just spent an hour cleaning it up , imagine how amazing it would look! We are lucky enough to have a spectacular coastline in Wales with a wonderful Wales Coast path running along it and we all have a duty to look after it. CRG fully support initiatives like Clean Coast Week and hope that others will follow our lead”
