Next CRG Event: Blackweir Friday 11th July

On Friday, the Cardiff Rivers Group is running a voluntary event for BT as the people in BT, are offered up to 3 working days for the use on Volunteering activities.

We are going to help them spend at least one of their days this year with us..!

Following last years’ successful event at Pentwyn Leisure centre, this event will focus on part of Cardiff’s iconic River Taff.

After a winter of heavy rainfall, the water has receded to a safe level that to allows us entry into the river.

Those brave souls who don’t mind getting wet, can don a pair of waders and will work downstream from the weir.

Others will either support the people in the rivers from the bank or litter pick the surrounding area on either side of the river. There may also be patches of Himalayan Balsam which can be yanked out.

The number of people in the water will be limited by the number of waders that are available. Please note if you do fancy going in the water, please bring spare clothes as you will get wet!

Those travelling by car can park at the Pontcanna fields changing rooms and then follow the path walk across the park to Blackweir bridge for 09:45 am. Please note that it’s a 5-10 minutes’ walk from the changing rooms to Blackweir bridge.

At the bridge look out for the truck with the Cardiff Rivers Group logo. For those unfamiliar with the location, there is a map below so there’s no excuse for getting lost!
