CRG volunteers at Pentwyn

Event 143: Pentwyn Leisure Centre (5 March 2017)

Cardiff Rivers Group braved hailstones as they ventured to Pentwyn to clean up the woodland, park and green spaces surrounding the lake.

As part of Keep Wales Tidy’s ‘Spring Clean Cymru’ campaign, the team collected over 50 bags of rubbish. They also retrieved a mattress, shopping trolley, traffic ones, numerous bikes and trikes, a crutch and other larger items.

Whilst there was a lot of waste collected, the volunteers were pleasantly surprised by how clean the area was compared to previous visits.

Publicity officer, Louise Tambini, said, “It was great to see so many new faces here today! Spring Clean Cymru really has brought the people of Wales together to clean up their local green spaces. I can’t believe so many volunteers turned up today in such horrid conditions – it goes to show just how much people care about their environment. They are true litter heroes!”

All waste was disposed of by Cardiff Council Parks Service.
