Hailey Park
Saturday, 26 January, 9:45 am – 12:00 pm
We will meet by the changing rooms (down the access road on Ty-Mawr Road, by the railway bridge — CF14 2HD — see map below) and litter pick as much of the riverbank and surrounding areas as possible.
This will be an ideal time to get close to the river, as the Himalayan balsam, Japanese knotweed and other vegetation has died back, which will allow us to get to the water’s edge. A lot of rubbish has been washed up on the river bank by the rainstorms towards the end of last year.
Depending on the amount of rainfall before the event, we should be able to get into the river to remove stuff that’s been caught-up in trees and cut back some of the trailing branches.
All tools and equipment — gloves, litter-pickers, bags, hoops,
safety glasses, etc — will be provided.
Please wear wellies, boots or stout shoes, and suitable ‘work’
clothing, as it may well be muddy.
You might also want to bring waterproofs in case of wet weather.
Come along and Make A DIFFerence!
P.S. CRG Wants Your Scrap Metal!
Basically, anything you want to get rid of that’s made, or contains a decent amount, of metal, large or small. A lot of small quantities soon add up! We will also take car batteries.
Please bring it along to any of our events — just let us know if you’re bringing quite a lot, and/or a large item (such as a bike), so we make sure to bring the trailer.
We will then sell the items to keep us going! (We are a licenced waste carrier and will get best prices for all donations.)
